About Davida
Davida started as a singer-songwriter, gradually evolving her sound as she re-discovered her identity following a severe bout with depression.
Working in what can only be called dark, dreamy folk-pop, Davida finds influence from pop sensations like The Weeknd to the self-made progressive alt-pop artist Vérité and the shocking filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, her sound delights in the marriage of the tonally dark and the sonically dreamy, which, she hopes, will transfigure into something indelibly personal.
Her music broaches from the upbeat echelons of pop’s finest—the Halseys and Taylor Swifts of the world—while simultaneously borrowing from the extreme indie (and even non-musical) art scene: from 2000s anime to the boyish books of Chuck Palahniuk to the indie wonders of Hayley Gene Penner and Emmy the Great, Davida purposely disassembles the boundaries between high and low art.
Working from a place of recovery and rediscovery, her debut album Ghost and Skeletons demands an audience not afraid to feel.
“This was one of the most creatively innovative sessions I’ve ever been a part of, with a truly unique artist.”
— Sean McLaughlin, main producer of Ghosts and Skeletons
“[Davida’s] harmonies are creatively incredible and beautiful. I have ‘Finer Things’ planned for my Top 100 List for 2023.”
— Warren Kurtz, Goldmine Magazine
